Why was the Quebec election called so quickly?

Not even 10 minutes after the polls closed, Quebecers were told they had elected a majority CAQ government. The reason the Oct. 3 Quebec election was called so fast was twofold: large number of advanced votes and the CAQ's insurmountable lead.

Hydro-Quebec wins partial victory in Maine Supreme Court

Hydro-Québec won a partial legal victory for its power line to Maine on Tuesday, as the state Supreme Court ruled that the referendum that resulted in opposition to the line's passage was unconstitutional. The court said it was the retroactive nature of the referendum that violated the developer's constitutional rights.
