Two men are due in court Monday after the beating and robbery of two men outside a bar.

Police say that shortly after midnight, two men in their twenties assaulted two other men outside a bar on Resther St. near Mont Royal Ave. hitting them multiple times in the face and head with a blunt object.

After pummelling and robbing their victims the assailants fled the scene.

Emergency crews were then alerted and they rushed the older victim, a 36-year-old man, to hospital to be treated for severe injuries to his head. The 31-year-old victim suffered less serious wounds and was treated at the scene.

Soon afterward police arrested two suspects, aged 21 and 29, and brought them in for questioning.

Those suspects are due in court Monday and will likely face charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, and assault with a weapon. One suspect was on probation and may face additional charges.
