The owner of a racy new bar in N.D.G. is suing a city councillor for $100,000.

Peter Sergakis is accusing district councillor Peter McQueen of defamation. McQueen has described Sergakis's newest bar, Jersey's Saloon on Sherbrooke St., as an enterprise that sells sex. Sergakis says that is inaccurate and it essentially labels him as a pimp.

A photo on the bar's Facebook page shows waitresses in crop tops and short jean shorts dancing on the bar in cowboy hats and boots.

While Sergakis says the women who work at the bar do dress provocatively and dance, he adds there isn't anything controversial or illegal happening at the bar.

"It's a Midwest bar. It's full of that in the States, Texas, everywhere, it represents the Midwest," he said.

Thursday night, McQueen said he stands by his comments. He says he received complaints about the bar when it opened from residents concerned that the bar is selling sex.

Investigators for the borough have determined complaints the bar amounts to a strip club and a show bar are unfounded.

However, McQueen says he is still receiving complaints about the establishment and will continue to have the borough look into them.

“It's lewd and I’m still getting complaints so I’m just asking questions. That's part of my job,” he said.

He declined an interview request Friday, saying his lawyers have advised him not to comment on the lawsuit.

Sergakis says he will drop the suit if McQueen apologizes.
