Some NDG residents are upset about a new bar slated to open on Sherbrooke St. at the end of the month.
Peter Sergakis bought the Maz bar near NDG Park and is in the process of renovating the building.
Last week he released a video outlining the concept for Jersey's Saloon and it featured scantily-clad bartenders and waitresses pouring alcohol on their torsos and dancing on the bar.
The video has since been removed.
City councillor Peter McQueen and other residents are worried about the possibility of noise, as well as the potential for less than wholesome entertainment, but borough mayor Russell Copeman said there is nothing that can be done to stop Sergakis.
"We will, in cooperation with the SPVM, ensure that the by-laws, our by-laws, are respected whether it's noise by-laws, whether it's cleanliness whether it's a question of minors," said Copeman.
"We will ensure for example that there is no nudity, we will ensure that there are no shows given on a regular basis."
Sergakis owns many bars and restaurants in Montreal and in NDG, including a strip club on St. Jacques St.
Copeman said his new establishment on Sherbrooke St. will not be allowed to expand, nor will the owner be able to have a stage, charge admission or put on large shows.
