A 67-year-old woman who was beaten into critical condition on Sunday night died in hospital Wednesday afternoon.

The woman was getting off a bus on Sunday around midnight at St. Vital and Henri Bourassa in Montreal North when police say she was attacked by three teenagers.

The suspected motive was to steal her purse.

Two teens, one aged 15, the other aged 16, were arrested that night; the third, who is 16-year-old, was arrested the following day.

They were charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and attempted murder. The prosecutor will now examine the file and determine if the teens will be charged with second degree murder or manslaughter.

They have a court date set for June 5.

The prosecutor in the case stated on Tuesday that if the three teens are found guilty, she will seek out adult sentences due to the nature of the crime.
