Two suspects have been arrested after a 22-year-old man was held against his will and beaten in an apartment in Lachine. Police believe it may be linked to a settling of accounts.

Montreal police spokesperson Andre Leclerc said a call was made to 911 at 3:20 a.m. Saturday about a man who was forcibly confined and assaulted with a weapon.

When police arrived at the apartment on Duranceau Ave. near des Erables St., they saw two men flee out the back of the apartment building. One suspect was quickly located and arrested, while the other was located a short time later with the assistance of a K9 unit.

Both 27, the men have been arrested and may face charges including forcible confinemnt, extortion and assault with a weapon.

The victim suffered upper-body injuries that appear to have been caused by a blunt object.

Police are investigating.

Leclerc said police don’t know the exact link between the three but said they are all known to police. They said it appears that a debt may have been the motive for the attack.
