A teenager led police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle in Repentigny early on Wednesday morning, police say.

According to the Surete du Quebec, Repentigny police tried to stop the 17-year-old male around 3:25 a.m. to see his ID.

The teen sped off. As he headed for Highway 40 west, the chase was taken up by the SQ. It ended about 25 km. later when the car hit a nail carpet laid out by police, who say the car was traveling at about 130 km/hr.

The teen fled the car on foot but was caught shortly after.

He remains in police custody.
