MONTREAL - Good news for Montreal drivers: the St-Jacques exit from highway 720 westbound has reopened.

The exit from the highway had been closed at the start of February to allow for the rebuilding of sewers set to serve the upcoming MUHC superhospital. The road was originally supposed to reopen June 24 but only reopened on September 2.

The reopening had been delayed twice, inspiring much grumbling among motorists and creating chronic traffic jams at the next exit up the Decarie expressway.

Meanwhile motorists further west might be less happy to learn that the Mercier bridge heading into Montreal will be closed Thursday evening from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. as the sole eastbound lane gets repaved to allow motorists a smooth and comfy driving experience. The westbound lane will remain open to traffic.
