MONTREAL - Modifications to construction work on Décarie Blvd. outside the site of the MUHC superhospital will lead to another delay of two to six weeks in the reopening of the St-Jacques St. exit off of the Ville-Marie Expressway.
A city official says the exit will now open sometime in September.
The exit was closed with only a week's notice on Feb. 1 because of extensive work replacing the underground infrastructure on Décarie to accommodate the new hospital.
City and Transport Quebec officials feared that traffic would be backed up onto the expressway because of the construction, so they decided to close the exit.
The original date for re-opening the exit was June 24, but heavy spring rains pushed that back to mid-August. Now, due to changes to the project, the re-opening has been delayed once more.
The Ville-Marie Expressway practically has more closures than openings these days.
In addition to the St-Jacques exit, there are lane closures in both directions of the Ville-Marie Tunnel through November, and the access ramp to Highway 15 south from the Ville-Marie westbound is scheduled to be closed until Aug. 8.
