Longtime Radio-Canada journalist Isabelle Richer sent out her first public message since a serious bike accident nearly claimed her life.

In a Facebook post she says she's been overwhelmed by the support she's received, saying every kind word is helping her heal.

Richer was hit by a truck while cycling in Rougemont and suffered head trauma and upper spine fractures.

She has worked at Radio-Canada since 1998 as a justice reporter, where she's covered high profile cases including those involving the Hells Angels and Luka Magnotta.

She will need months of rehab.
