MONTREAL - Parti Quebecois Leader Pauline Marois has written a public letter attacking François Rebello, the MNA who defected from her party this week to join the fledgling Coalition for Quebec's Future led by François Legault.

In her letter entitled "Heartbreaking Cynicism," the PQ leader also went after fellow ex-pequiste Legault for seeking to govern with turncoats, a reference to his most recent recruit.

Marois wrote that Rebello had looked her in the eye and swore to her that he was a separatist and only the PQ could fit his values.

The PQ leader added that the public's disenchantment with the Liberal government has become so extensive that all of Quebec's governing class has been discredited.

She wrote that great projects require political change and that Quebec can only grasp its destiny once it is free and  has the power to make its own decisions.
