LAVAL -- Hillcrest Academy in Chomedey has placed one of its grade three teachers on a temporary leave of absence after a group of parents discovered the woman is married to an alleged pedophile.

The woman, who is in her 60s, is married to Howard Krupp. Krupp was arrested last month and charged with criminal harassment for allegedly stalking two young children in Kirkland. The arrest came after police acting on tips from parents at St. Anthony Elementary.

Krupp has since been released on bail, and his conditions include that he can not be anywhere near a school or any place young children might be.

Last Wednesday, after classes, Krupp’s car was parked near Hillcrest.

Police were called with reports the man was near the Laval school, despite his bail conditions.

“We got information that someone was there, breaking some conditions, so a police car was sent to the area at around 4 p.m. They located the car with the gentleman in question, he was put under arrest after all the verifications were done,” said Laval police spokesperson Franco di Genova.

Krupp was released immediately with a promise to appear in court at a later date.

Monday, a group of parents protested the presence of Krupp’s wife at their school, some threatening to withhold their children from her class.

As a result, the veteran teacher took a paid leave from the school.

The Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board did not return many calls placed by CTV Montreal regarding the issue and refused to release a written statement.

Parents at the school say the school board circulated a letter informing them of the incident.
