MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact's new designated player Hernan Bernarello will be out of action for a few weeks with a foot injury.

The Argentine midfielder made the announcement himself on Twitter on Tuesday and posted a picture of his swollen left foot. His message said he would be out "at least three weeks."

He suffered the injury in the Impact's 0-0 draw in Philadelphia on Saturday night.

A team spokesman said they had not yet received results of an MRI exam but that it appears he will be out of action for a few weeks.

Bernardello, 27, played four matches since he signed with Montreal on July 23. He is the team's second DP after striker Marco Di Vaio.

He has been playing a holding midfield role alongside Patrice Bernier. Likely candidates to fill that spot are Davy Arnaud and Collen Warner.
