Rumours are intensifying around the Montreal Canadiens’ interest in Jonathan Drouin.

According to CTV Montreal’s Brian Wilde, a strong source confirms Habs General Manager Marc Bergevin is making “a huge push today putting a more significant package on table to acquire Drouin.”

TSN’s Bob McKenzie also stated that the the Canadiens are one of a handful of teams that has shown a serious interest in the 20-year-old player from Quebec, two weeks after the Tampa Bay Lightning forward was demoted to the American Hockey League.

Drouin was playing for the Syracuse Crunch in Rochester Monday afternoon, and the Habs' assistant general manager Rick Dudley in attendance for the second Crunch game during this American long weekend, Wilde confirmed.

Drouin was the third overall draft pick in 2013, but was sold to the American league on Jan. 2.

The next day, Drouin’s agent Allan Walsh said his client had requested a trade a few months ago.
