A three-storey apartment building was badly damaged by a fire in Longueuil.

The fire started at 9:30 p.m. on Perigny St. near Toulouse St. in Longueuil, near Lionel Groulx elementary school.

Damage to the upper floors was extensive, with flames erupting from a corner apartment an hour after the fire started.

Firefighters needed three hours to get the blaze under control.

Everyone inside the apartment building managed to escape without injury.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
