MONTREAL - The trial of Adele Sorella, 45, the mother accused of killing her two daughters in Laval in 2009, has been postponed until 2013.
The delay was ordered Thursday after Superior Court Justice André Vincent was informed that the necessary psychological assessments of the accused have not yet been completed.
More than 20 witnesses could be called to testify when proceedings begin.
Adele Sorella's two daughters were found dead at home in Duvernay, March 31, 2009. The accused was arrested shortly afterwards.
In June 2010, Sorella obtained a provisional release after more than a year of detention but she was required to comply with a set of condition while awaiting trial, which was scheduled to begin shortly thereafter.
Her husband, the alleged mafioso Giuseppe De Vito was initially undecided whether he would testify at his ex-wife's preliminary hearing.
De Vito had been sought by police for over two years when the tragedy occurred but was arrested on charges of importing cocaine last October. The arrest was part of the large-scale operation known as Operation Coliseum.
