The wife of a reputed mobster on the lam, already charged in the murders of her two daughters, now faces additional counts after electricity was stolen from Hydro-Quebec.
Adele Sorella was absent Tuesday when charges of theft and possession were laid at the Laval courthouse.
The Crown says $20,000 worth of electricity was pilfered.
The court heard that the electricity was stolen between 2001 and 2008, though it's not clear how the energy was siphoned off of the grid.
Other people living in the Duvernay district near Sorella's home could also be charged at a later date.
Girls poisoned
Sorella is charged with two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of her two daughters, Sabrina, 8, and Amanda, 9.
The lifeless bodies of the girls were found by police in May after concerned family members called 911. Police say the bodies of the girls showed no signs of violence, and suspect they were poisoned.
Sorella's husband and the father of the deceased girls is Giuseppe De Vito, who has been missing since 2006. He is alleged to be a member of the mafia; he went missing after a mafia bust in Ontario and Quebec.
