With live jazz and drinks al fresco, the Botanical Gardens is serving up a unique summer cocktail experience with ambience rivalled by few places in the city.

Poured from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays, Cocktails in the Garden offers drinks and tapas inspired by the lush backdrop.

The alpine and shade gardens are represented by maple and cheese-stuffed figs and clementines with bison, aged cheddar and gazpacho.

The aquatic garden inspired a dish made with shrimp, salmon and sushi.

At the bar, a blend of rosewater, vodka, sugar cane syrup and white cranberry juice channels the rose garden.

"It's a very nice concept to be in the Botanical Gardens like this and surrounded with all these nice plants, flowers and nice smells," said one woman enjoying cocktails on a summer afternoon.

Giant, chic picnic

Another summer treat, this one taking place for one day only, is a giant, chic picnic with a top-secret location.

After 20 years of success in Paris, the Diner en Blanc is gearing up for its second edition in Montreal this Thursday, Aug. 19.

Whether you bring your own food and wine or order a basket, the only requirement is that you wear white.
