The Quebec government is making a minor investment in the motion picture industry.
On Monday Premier Pauline Marois announced the province was providing a $1.2 million interest-free loan to Technicolor Canada, which would go toward a $7 million creation of a new special effects studio.
Located in Old Montreal the studio would focus on post-production and special effects in the TV, motion picture, and video game industries.
"We are becoming a very important place in the world where we will create special effects for cinema. TV , video games and that is very important for us because we will create jobs in high technology section and high salary jobs," said Marois.
The studio is expected to lead to 200 new jobs for at least the next three years.
