UPDATE: The teen's body was found in the Lachine Canal Wednesday.
Police are hoping to recruit the public to help in the search for Yong Xin Zhang, who went missing since being separated from his mother on a visit to the Notre Dame Basilica in Old Montreal Sunday evening at about 8 p.m.
The 17-year-old resident of St. Henri did not have a phone, money or a bus pass when he disappeared.
He was wearing dark coloured jeans and a blue shirt, (the same as seen in the photo) when last seen.
Yong Xin stands 5'8" and weighs about 130 lbs (1.78 m, 60 kg) and speaks English, French and Cantonese.
Anybody with knowledge of his wherabouts is asked to contact police at 911.
