The Place d'Armes metro station has been under construction for months, but on Monday the work enters a new phase.

As of now the only entrance to the station is via St. Urbain St., while the hallways to and from the Palais des Congres are closed.

Construction crews are moving the turnstiles, replacing the flooring, and adding an access ramp to the station.

They are also replacing the windows and repairing the waterproofing of the station.

Work is also being done to prepare the metro station for an elevator, which is due to be constructed and installed by the end of 2016.

Construction on the entrances and stairways should wrap up by February 2016.
