A park in Riviere-Ouelle has been named in honour of Nancy Michaud, the Quebec political aide who was murdered last May.

The official naming ceremony was held Saturday morning in the small town northeast of Quebec City.

Michaud, dedicated to volunteering in her community, had been working to have the elementary school park landscaped and renovated before her death.

Her vision has since been realized - the park is equipped with a new play area, sports fields and swings.

Michaud served as the aide to Natural Resource Minister Claude Bechard before she was killed.

Last month, Francis Proulx was found guilty of Michaud's murder, and was automatically sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25 years.
