UPDATE: Montreal police confirmed they discovered the man's body in May 2016. They do not believe there was any criminal element to his death. Our original story follows:

The family of a missing Montreal taxi driver is distributing missing person posters in an effort to find him.

It’s been 10 days since anyone has heard from Si Belkacem Silakhal, and his daughter Thanina says the ordeal has been hard on her mother.

“I often find her crying,” Thanina said.

Thanina and her brother Aghilas were out in the Old Port Thursday, putting up posters on poles and handing them out to passersby. They were planning to continue their work downtown and on the metro.

The 52-year-old taxi driver stands 1.7 metres tall (5’7”) and weighs about 84 kilograms (187 lbs.) with greying brown hair and brown eyes.

A tip from a citizen helped the police locate his cab on Monday near the Lachine Canal. The Montreal police say citizen tips have played an important role in the investigation and they are still asking for the public's help after a search of the Peel Basin in the Lachine Canal revealed no new leads.

Aghilas says he is trying to stay strong and focus on finding his father.

“It gave me hope to know the police found no signs of violence in his taxi,” he says.

Silakhal is diabetic and has high blood pressure. The family is concerned because he doesn't have his medication.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
