Canadian teenagers Eugenie Bouchard and Filip Peliwo made history last week as the first Canadians to win at Wimbledon.

Bouchard was the first Canadian to ever win at the historic tennis championship, defeating Ukrainian Elena Svitolina for the Girls title.

She then teamed up with American Taylor Townshend to win the girls doubles championship.

Inspired by his Tennis Canada teammate, Peliwo then became the first Canadian male to win at Wimbledon, taking home the Boys championship.

Both 18-year-old, Bouchard and Peliwo say they will be turning professional in the near future, and credit Tennis Canada for giving them the skills to succeed under pressure.

"I just thought it was really cool that there were many people on court one [watching the match]," said Bouchard.

"I thought it was really cool but I was able to stay calm and I was happy with the way I handled myself on the court."

For his part Peliwo said Bouchard's win convinced him there was no way he would let only one Canadian take the top prize.

"I wanted the same feeling she had after winning," said Peliwo. "I wasn't going to let Genie be the only one winning that week."

Peliwo's next stop will be the U.S. Open at the end of August, while Bouchard will play at the Rogers Cup tournament next month.

However, Bouchard is scheduled to talk at length with CTV Montreal on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 during the noon news.
