The Biodome and the Insectarium re-opened this weekend, after being closed for nearly a month due to pressure tactics by the city's blue-collar workers.

The tactics ended Wednesday after the union representing 5,000 Montreal municipal workers met with the mayor in an effort by both sides to settle a contract dispute.

The union has been asking for a 9.5 per cent pay increase over four years. The city has offered no raise in the first year and a two per cent hike each subsequent year.

Workers are also asking the city to cut back on subcontracting of services to the private sector.

The union has been without a contract for more than two and a half years.
