Parents of an 11-month-old boy who died at a St. Jerome daycare on May 4, 2011 are relieved to learn that caregiver Yolande Belanger, 60, will face charges.

Belanger was arrested Thursday and freed at a court date in St. Jerome Friday. She now awaits her next court date on manslaughter charges on June 16.

The parents of young Loghann told CTV Montreal that they are pleased with the development.

“We trusted that person and we had total confidence in her and we never thought before that this could happen," said the child's father Isaac Gauthier.

"She took care of my wife’s two kids before our time together and nothing ever happened with her. You never know which person is going to stab you in the back," he said.

The child died while in Belanger's care. Belanger claimed that the boy had fallen on his head. The parents have also filed a civil lawsuit claiming $225,000.
