A Conservative candidate on the West Island has filed a complaint with police after her campaign posters were defaced.

Vandals have done much more than scrawl a moustache or blacken teeth. They have written sexual messages and attached condoms to posters.

"I was sad to see that," said Assouline. "At the same time it's worrisome to see it happen in 2015, and I encourage women to get involved in politics even if we have to go through attacks like that."

Assouline says she considers it an attack not only against her but against women in general who run for political office.
