The southbound side of the Champlain Bridge will be closed the final weekend of April.

Construction crews are installing a pair of trusses underneath the bridge deck in order to support edge girders.

That means all roads leading to the Champlain Bridge will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday April 29 until 5 a.m. Monday May 2.

That includes:

  • Highway 15 South from the Turcot Interchange
  • Onramps to Highway 15 South from De La Verendrye, Atwater, and Gaetan Laberge
  • Exit 5 of the Bonaventure Expressway

There will be one lane open to allow drivers to access the Bonaventure from Highway 15 South, and to access Nuns' Island from the Bonaventure.

As of Monday morning, one lane on Highway 15 south will be closed between the Verendrye and Atwater exits until 2019.

The weekend of May 7, similar work will take place on the inbound lanes of the Champlain Bridge.
