A key water main in Vaudreuil-Dorion is affecting residents on more than 200 streets.

The pipe on St. Charles Avenue broke on Monday and was promptly repaired, but the damage was already done.

Residents of more than 200 streets are being asked to boil their water for one minute before using it for drinking, preparing food, or brushing their teeth.

The city says it is safe to use the water without boiling for washing dishes, clothes or taking a shower.

The city of Vaudreuil-Dorion says it will inform residents when the water has been certified to be contaminant-free.

Anyone with questions should call the water works department at 450-455-3371 xt. 2600. The latest information for residents can also be found  here: http://www.ville.vaudreuil-dorion.qc.ca/nouvelles/bris-daqueduc-majeur.html
