Alexander Radulov donned his No. 47 Montreal Canadiens jersey for the first time Monday and said he's looking forward to challenging for a Stanley Cup with his new team.

The 30-year-old Russian signed a one-year US$5.75-million contract as a free agent with Montreal on July 1. He arrived on the weekend to get settled and continue his preparation for the upcoming NHL season.

"I'm happy to finally be here," the right-winger said. "I'm excited to be back in the NHL.

"To be part of Montreal is huge. It's a hockey town and they always want to go on a run for the Cup and that's the main reason I chose Montreal."

Radulov has returned to the NHL after four seasons with CSKA Moscow in the KHL. He played two seasons with the Nashville Predators, then signed with Russian club Yulaev Ufa but returned to Nashville near the end of the 2011-12 campaign.

He was let go by the Predators after breaking curfew ahead of a playoff game.
