A 26-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital after being stabbed soon after leaving the Griffin pub in Point St. Charles.

People leaving the bar found the man lying in a pool of blood at 2:30 Thursday morning, and promptly called 9-1-1.

Witnesses say the man had left the bar near the intersection of Centre street and Shearer just minutes before he was found.

Nobody saw the victim get into any altercations inside the bar, and nobody saw the attack itself.

The victim is currently in critical condition in hospital with a serious knife wound to his throat.

Police combed the area around the bar early Thursday in a search for clues, but so far have found nothing to lead them to a suspect, nor turned up any possible motive for the vicious attack.
