A woman in her twenties is expected to survive after being struck by a car in Dollard des Ormeaux.

The woman was crossing St. John's Blvd. between Lake St./Westminster St. and De Salaberry Blvd. around 4 p.m. Sunday when she was hit by a driver heading south.

That section of St. John's Blvd. is under construction.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with critical head injuries, but on Monday morning had improved enough that her survival was likely, although she is still in very bad shape.

The 35-year-old driver was taken to hospital and treated for shock.

Police spent several hours investigating the crash to determine exactly what occurred.
