Dave Bolland scored in the sixth round of a shootout as the Florida Panthers posted a 3-2 comeback victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night.

Tomas Fleischmann and Steven Kampfer scored in regulation time for the Panthers (26-19-12), who won their second game in a row to start a five-game road trip.

Brendan Gallagher scored twice in regulation for Montreal (37-16-5), which outshot Florida 39-21 and held a 2-0 lead in the second period.

Gallagher was in his usual spot, in front of the opponent's goal, when he banged Max Pacioretty's rebound past Roberto Luongo 2:31 into the second period and was there again to put in a loose puck at 10:32. Gallagher got his 100th career point along the way.

Only 1:22 later, the Panthers got two chances from the slot and Fleischmann buried the second with Bolland parked in front of Carey Price.

A Florida power play had just ended when Fleischmann set up Kampfer for a quick shot that beat Price on the short side at 4:57 of the third. It was Kampfer's first NHL goal since 2012 when he was with Minnesota.

Montreal outshot Florida 39-21.

Max Pacioretty gave the Canadiens a 1-0 lead in the shootout but David Desharnais, P.K. Subban, Tomas Plekanec and Andrei Markov all failed to beat Roberto Luongo.

“Tonight I found we were the team putting the pressure. We shot a lot. I liked the effort even though we’re in a very difficult period, with three games in four nights. We had a lot of energy, effort and rhythm. Usually when you play like that you win,” said Coach Michel Therrien. "They worked extremely hard, they certainly deserved a better result."

The Habs played with six rookies in the lineup and P.K. Subban said that they did well.

“I thought guys like Tinordi and Pateryn and especially Nate (Beaulieu) did great. Playing those kinds of minutes and for us to get points out of this game is big. I don’t have to look at the game tape to know they did a good job," said Subban, who played over 30 minutes once again.

Nathan Beaulieu also praised Pateryn and Tinordi. “I think both of them did really good jobs, it’s not easy coming into a game like that there was a lot of emotion, we really wanted a big win and them jumping in and playing solid minutes is a good thing,” said Beaulieu.

Tinordi admitted that he was a bit surprised at being assessed an extra two minutes following a fight.

“I’m not the ref so I can’t make those decisions,” said Tinordi who reported that he was otherwise happy with his play.
