Montreal police have released surveillance photos from a smash and grab robbery in hopes someone will recognize the thieves.

On Wednesday, November 12 four men entered the Birks jewelry store at the Fairview mall in Pointe Claire and smashed the display case, pepper-sprayed employees, and then fled with their loot.

Several witnesses took pictures and video of the men as they fled the scene, but these photos appear to be from mall surveillance video.

The photos show four black men, in their twenties, wearing hooded sweatshirts.

One man was carrying a red gym bag.

Police say the thieves ran out of the mall using the doors between Sears and the Bank of Montreal and fled in a dark Nissan sedan, probably a Sentra with an 'E' in the license plate.

Anyone who recognizes the men in the photos is asked to call Info-Crime at 514-393-1133.
