Drivers who take the Mercier Bridge on their way to downtown Montreal will face a new delay as of Tuesday morning.

One of the two lanes on the ramp that connects Route 138 to Notre Dame East in the St. Pierre Interchange closes at 5 a.m. Oct. 18, and will remain closed for the next three years.

The ramp that connects to Notre Dame and leads to Highway 20 East needs to be narrowed in order to give construction crews room to work.

That is why Montreal-Toronto Blvd. was closed between Victoria St. and Notre Dame St. earlier this year.

Crews are rebuilding sections of Highway 20 and Route 138 as part of the work on the Turcot Interchange.
