A man was arrested after a spectacular overnight police chase in Longueuil-- the details of which are still unclear.

A spokesperson for the Longueuil police said that the chase began just after 1 a.m. on Saturday on Maisonneuve St. in Vieux Longueuil.

Police were responding to reports that a car stolen on the island of Montreal was circulating in Longueuil. 

A high-speed chase ensued along Jacques-Cartier Boul, with the stolen car driving in the wrong direction. 

The two occupants of the car suspect abandoned the vehicle on Terrasse Chabanel St. and fled on foot.

One suspect, a man, was caught while emerging from a hedge on a residential property after police dogs managed to locate him.

The second is still at large, according to Longueuil police. 

Both suspects are believed to be minors, but could still be charged on numerous counts.
