A 27-year-old woman is dead following a stabbing in Dollard-des-Ormeaux Thursday morning.

Montreal police say two men began an argument with the woman, who was a tenant in the building on Brunswick Blvd. near Deacon St.

"The conflict went sour, and the suspect attacked the victim with a sharp object. He wounded her in the upper body," said Const. Daniel Lacoursiere.

She was rushed to Lakeshore General Hospital in critical condition and was declared dead soon after.

One eyewitness who saw the woman bleeding on the ground told CTV Montreal she then heard a man standing by her say, "She'll never bother me again."

Police placed Michel Langlois, the 50-year-old superintendant of the building, under arrest. He is due to appear in court Friday on murder charges.

Residents described Langlois as a man who was very demanding of tenants in the building.

"He behaved as if he owned it, but he was just the janitor," said one tenant, who chose not to be identified.

The tenant was described as a quiet dog lover. Witnesses say the shoving match began over an argument about the woman's dog droppings.

"When dogs did their business on the lawn, he'd become upset," said one neighbour.

A 46-year-old man who also taken in for questioning. Police say was the attacker's companion and may have tried to stop the assault before it occurred.

The woman's identity has yet to be confirmed.

This is the 25th homicide of the year in Montreal.
