Series of arson attacks
There were three arson attacks in the city early Tuesday.
The first fire was at a cafe on Jean Talon St. E. near 6th Ave. An incendiary device was launched through a window, sparking a small fire. Employees managed to put the fire out before it caused any significant damage.
Soon after, a window was shattered at a restaurant on Cote des Neiges Rd. near Queen Mary Rd. A small fire started, but it was quickly extinguished.
About half an hour later, a container with flammable liquid was thrown at a nearby restaurant under construction on Queen Mary Rd., near Coolbrook Ave. The liquid did not ignite.
Last winter, there was a wave of Molotov cocktail attacks at Italian cafes in the city. Montreal police created a multidisciplinary team to investigate more than a dozen attacks.
