Residents in an east-end neighbourhood are worried about the latest arson attack against an Italian eatery in Montreal -- the 12th such attack in the last two months, according to Montreal police.
It happened Tuesday morning at the Ferrari bar in Riviere-des-Prairies -- the third firebombing in less than 24 hours.
Someone threw a molotov cocktail into the bar on Andre-Ampere avenue just before 4 a.m.
Firefighters intervened quickly to put out the flames and no one was hurt.
Frayed nerves
People are getting extremely nervous, especially since the unit above the bar houses a daycare centre.
Daycare owner Lori Primiani issued an appeal to the attackers.
"I hope that they take their issues elsewhere and not in situations where you have children or people living upstairs," she told CTV's Stephane Giroux.
Some people worry that they might be caught in the middle of a turf war involving street gangs.
Pattern
The modus operandi was the same as the previous attacks -- a window was broken and the flaming object was thrown inside, causing a small fire.
Eight of the attacks since Oct. 29 have targeted Italian bars, cafes or restaurants, while one establishment was Greek-owned.
No one was injured in any of the previous incidents, which have happened in the St. Michel, Plateau and Mile End neighbourhoods.
Police have no motive and no suspects.
