The 40 days of rotating strikes by Montreal blue-collar workers are set to end Friday in Verdun, with contract negotiations set to resume Tuesday.

More than 5,000 blue-collar workers have been without a contract for two years after talks broke down over issues including pay and the subcontracting of services to the private sector.

While on strike, workers targeted a different borough every day.

While on strike, city employees did not pickup garbage or recycling, and did not clear snow unless at least nine centimetres had fallen.
