MONTREAL - It may be a long weekend, but for those who have to go through areas under construction it may feel even longer.

This weekend lane closures are scheduled for both the Champlain Bridge and Highway 15, from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

Two lanes on the bridge will be open toward the South Shore, while those coming into town will only have one lane available.

Highway 15 will be restricted to one lane in each direction between the Atwater and Nuns' Island exits, and Exit 57 (Nuns' Island) will be closed.

As always, drivers are advised to take the Jacques Cartier or Victoria Bridges, which will always have at least one lane open in each direction.

Bonaventure Expressway construction

Part of the Bonaventure Expressway near Exit 2 will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Crews will be rebuilding the roadway, and drivers will have to detour onto the service lane.

St. Pierre exchange

Heading to the Mercier Bridge from downtown Montreal will be a little trickier than normal this weekend.

The St. Pierre exchange that connects Highway 20 westbound to Autoroute 138 and the Mercier Bridge will close at midnight Friday and re-open at 8 a.m Monday.

Drivers can get off the highway earlier, at Dollard Ave./1st Ave., and detour via Dollard Ave., St. Patrick St. and Clement St. to get on the Mercier Bridge, or they can go underneath the highway at 1st Avenue and head on the 20 Eastbound to get on the bridge.

Police are supposed to be on hand to direct drivers.

This closure is expected to happen again over the next few weekends until the work is complete.
