The Parti Quebecois is alleging that dozens of daycare spots were awarded to people connected to the Quebec Liberal party -- specifically in LaFontaine, the east-end riding of the province's Family Minister, Tony Tomassi.
There are also allegations about daycare licences being given to individuals that donated to the Liberals.
Nicolas Girard, the PQ critic for family policy, has been questioning the Liberals about the alleged connections between daycare owners and Tomassi since December, said CTV's Quebec City Bureau Chief John Grant.
"These are private subsidized daycares we're talking about. He (Girard) talked today about a couple that owns several daycares, that have given the Liberals $14,000 since 2003," said Grant.
Girard said there are some daycare owners with even closer ties to Tomassi.
"We are in a situation where there are six members of his executive in Lafontaine who are having some daycare services," Girard said.
CTV News contacted Josee Primiani, a daycare owner in the east end, who said she did sit on Tomassi's executive committee, but she never profited from her ties to the Liberal party.
"No I don't think I got any favoritism as they (the PQ) are saying. I don't think there was anything other than the fact that I deserved what I got because I work really hard for special needs kids," Primiani said.
Tomassi told reporters on Wednesday that when he was named Family Minister he took immediate action to avoid any conflict of interest.
"(He said) he asked everyone who was on his riding executive who had anything to do with day care or with the family ministry to resign from their positions on his executive, and he says they all did," said Grant.
