Do you remember that old TV game show, "To Tell the Truth?"
Three contestants. Two were allowed to lie.
Well, I think we have our own version of it in Quebec City.
The Bastarache commission has been hearing a lot of he said, she said.
Smoking guns? Hardly.
Where is the beef?
Now, it might get a little more interesting now that Marc Bellemare's lawyer will be allowed to cross examine the premier.
But at the end of the day, I'm not sure much will be accomplished except to bury Jean Charest a little deeper.
Perception is everything in politics. And Quebecers seem to have made up their minds.
But there are reasons to be a little skeptical about all of Bellemare's allegations and the fact they come six years after the fact.
Mark Twain once said, "When you tell the truth, you don't need to remember."
Seems like this is one reality show where memory lapses are common.
Quebec's absurd behaviour on education debate
Here is something that is true. No arguing with the facts here.
Just continuing incredulity at the absurd behaviour of the Quebec government.
Ten kids who want to continue their education in English.
Quebec superior court said yes. Our supposedly minority-friendly Liberal government says no.
It's as if granting access to these kids could threaten social peace and lead to such upheaval that the very existence of the collectivity would be threatened.
The government needs to show compassion in this case.
It should listen.
And it should start listening to all parents who surely want more choice in education.
Ten kids, Mr. Charest.
Do you have the courage and the humanity to do the right thing?
Make it cool to ride the bus
Once again the wisdom of our local leaders this week impresses beyond reasonable belief.
I actually agree with Projet Montreal for once. We need air conditioning in our buses and metro. I have taken buses in cuba that are cooler.
I wonder if the people who make such wise decisions on our behalf even take public transit on any regular basis.
Almost sounds like "let them eat cake." Let them sweat.
It would be worth the extra money to make public transit comfortable. It would surely mean more users.
Heck it would make taking a bus or metro on a hot summer day a very cool thing to do.
