One of two teenagers suspected of a triple murder in Trois-Rivières will plead guilty, a judge announced Tuesday.

The boys are suspected of murdering three people on February 11. Two sisters, aged 22 and 17, and the boyfriend of one of them, also 17, were found dead in the Trois-Rivières home of the two young women.

The two 17 year olds are charged with three counts of premeditated murder and three counts of conspiracy to commit murder.

The charges of conspiracy to murder were made due to the suspects’ alleged plot to kill the young women’s mother and also because they allegedly planned to kill police officers.

Sentence hearings will begin Oct. 27.

The boy’s co-accused has asked to undergo a trial by judge and jury. His preliminary hearing is set for June 25.

The Crown intends to seek adult sentencing if he is convicted. However, the boys would face a minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment without possibility of parole and not 25 years, due to the fact that they are minors.

Trois-Rivières police said shortly after the tragedy that heartbreak was the motive for the murders.

One of the teenaged suspects was in love with the 17-year-old girl, they said, and was upset she was in a relationship with another boy.
