MONTREAL - Patrick Lagace writes for La Presse, appears on TV as the host of Les Francs-Tireurs with Richard Martineau, and this past weekend wrote a column which appeared in the Globe and Mail about his view of the disconnect between Quebec and Canada.

So when Michael Ignatieff, former leader of the federal Liberal party, made headlines for saying that the separation of Quebec was inevitable, he was not surprised.

"I think that Mr. Ignatieff has been freed from the ties of political correctness and he's calling it as he sees it," said Lagace. "The ties that bind Canada and Quebec are weakening."
