Elevators have finally been installed in the Berri-UQAM metro station, 43 years after the metro system was inaugurated.
Michel Labrecque, chairman of the Montreal transit corporation, made the announcement Monday morning at Lionel-Groulx station, which is also getting an elevator.
It's part of a plan to install elevators in five key metro stations by next year at a cost of $10 million each.
The STM says it will also built lifts at Cote-Vertu, Bonaventure and Henri-Bourassa stations.
The Laval metro stations already have elevators.
