Commuters driving to Chateauguay via the Mercier bridge will face a summer of detours.
The Chateauguay off-ramp has to be re-decked, a job which is expected to take until September.
Drivers who normally take that exit will instead have to use Ramp two, the La Prairie exit, then travel along a temporary two-lane detour road. After the kilometre-long detour they can drive under the bridge to access Highway 138.
Trucks will not be allowed to use this road. Intead they will have to take Highway 30 to reach Chateauguay.
The federal bridges corporation is directing drivers to two websites: a road map, and a blog about the Mercier bridge project.
The deck of the ramp is being replaced with prefabricated concrete deck panels.
