MONTREAL - The latest stop in the Detour de L'Ile, summer 2011 edition, will be the complete closure of an on-ramp of the Mercier Bridge.
The La Prairie ramp will be closed in both directions from 2:15 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday.
This is the final stage of work on this section of the bridge, and when it is done, all three South Shore access ramps to the Bridge will have been replaced with concrete deck panels.
Lots of work still needs to be done on the Mercier Bridge, namely strengthening the steel supports for the structure, replacing the deck along the full length of the bridge and replacing the sidewalk with a bike/pedestrian pathway.
