LAVAL—Laval police expect 35 people to be arrested Tuesday after leading a coordinated sweep of a drug trafficking network involving organized crime, biker gangs, and street gangs.

“Project Harvest” involves 385 officers from 11 different police departments, and it appears to have already seized 100,000 pills from Tuesday's 5 a.m. sweep.

Laval Police spokesperson Franco Di Genova said at least 25 people had already been arrested with 35 expected to be in handcuffs once the operation was done.

Di Genova said the investigation had been under way since September, targeting traffickers of synthetic drugs, cocaine, and GHB.

Police, who were carrying out 36 search warrants, said they had seized 105,000 synthetic drugs and pills in 2012. Police said 40,000 pills were seized annually between 2010 and 2011.

Raids were being conducted across 11 municipalities, including Laval, Montreal, Boisbriand, Ste-Therese, Blainville, Val-Morin, Terrebonne, Mirabel, Deux-Montagne, Lavltrie and St-Hippolyte. Several pounds of pot and containers with synthetic pills and designer drugs were uncovered at 3190 Croissant de Paris Street in Duvernay.
