LEVIS - Premier Jean Charest says he has had enough of the offensive remarks and personal attacks from his political opponents.
The premier urged Parti Quebecois leader Pauline Marois and Action democratique du Quebec leader Gerard Deltell Sunday to put an end to what he calls a smear campaign against him over allegations of corruption in the construction industry that have multiplied within the last year.
At a press conference following the general Liberal party council meeting this weekend, Charest responded to Deltell's quip Saturday night that Charest was the ‘godfather' of the Liberal party.
Charest demanded a retraction by Deltell, saying he was hurt by constant and unjustified attacks.
Charest said he was more determined than ever not to be intimidated by anyone and will continue his work as Quebec premier.
"I'm not intimidated by this. It has the reverse effect on me. And if anyone thinks this kind of a tactic is going to discourage me or my party from practicing politics, they're wrong," he said.
